Solare officially formed in 2005 when Joshua Johnson came off of a tour with Melissa Auf Der Maur (Smashing Pumpkins, Hole) and decided to start a new band with songwriter/bassist Christine Bruton that synthesized his preoccupation with science and his love for heavy, droney rock music. "I spend a lot of time thinking about the sun. It's equally violent and beautiful. I wanted to create a sound that captured that," remarks Johnson. The collaboration succeeded in grand fashion, as evidenced by the band's debut EP "The Story of the Moon".

Solare's lyrics have been described as "tres nerdy" since they primarily deal with things one might learn about on the Discovery Channel. At once innocent and dark, ---the songs manage to resonate with fans on a basic emotional level. "To me, the most rewarding part about this band so far has been fans' responses to our lyrics", notes Bruton. "I'm amazed to see people singing along at shows and quoting stuff back to us "it's cool because we kill ourselves over our lyrics."

Known for their thunderous live show, which has earned them an unofficial title amongst fans as "the biggest sounding three-piece you'll ever hear", the group has consistently won over audiences throughout Central and Southern California's most prominent rock venues. In the year since the release of "The Story of the Moon", Solare has played nearly 100 shows and has shared the stage with major-label acts like Aqualung, Grandaddy and the Living Things.

Solare has been dubbed a "model next-gen rock band" by renowned music writer Bud Scoppa (Rolling Stone, Music Connection) and featured by numerous media outlets, including influential Los Angeles radio station Indie 103.1, the OC Weekly and Decoymusic.com, which named the group one of "10 bands you should know". Solare continues to relentlessly deliver their inspired noise to anyone who appreciates artistic vision, intelligence and heart in modern rock music.
